Zabbara is a cultural association that aims to foster audiovisual production and visual arts as powerful means for social change and for peace and dialogue among different communities of the Mediterranean area and Europe. Our key activity consists in the production of future films and documentaries combining a high standard of research and new ways of expression with a strong commitment to social issues and human rights. We also develop educational and vocational training projects in the cinematographic field addressed to young people and groups at risk of social exclusion – especially migrants, refugees and asylum seekers – and activities for the promotion of film culture through new forms of involvement based on participatory processes. We are a co-founder of the Italian Coalition for Rights and Civil Liberties (CILD) and we collaborate with more than 500 different actors at the national, European and international level, including NGOs, universities, institutions and film producers.
